Early morning after breakfast, head to londorosi park gate with a guide from accessbudgetsafaris.com, first getting a packed Village nearby and mineral water for the climb. At the entrance gate, the Guides and Porters prepare belongings and register with Tanzania National Park Authority (TANAPA) then you start the hike into the rain forest where you will some Colobus monkeys on the way and you will have your lunch at Mti Mkubwa Campsite with the big tree. Early in the evening, the Chef will prepare for you snacks then after dinner. Be aware that temperatures fall to a freezing point at night, have enough preparation.

DAY 2: MTI MKUBWA CAMP TO SHIRA 2 CAMP Following the early morning breakfast, begin the hike out of the rainforest and into the heather moorland zone crossing many streams and plateau up to Shira Camp 2. You will have a wonderful view of the stream of the Western breach and its glaciers in the East. On reaching the Camp, your tents will be set up and water prepared for you. The Chef will prepare for your snacks and afterward dinner. Also, night temperatures fall to freezing, you need to get prepared.

DAY 3: SHIRA TO LAVA TOWER TO BARRANCO CAMP Here you will be passing through a semi-desert. After your early morning breakfast, head to a semi-desert and rocky landscape walking eastwards and you will explore the great LAVA TOWER. The Chef will serve lunch at the real Tower and you have an option of climbing the LAVA TOWER WEATHER PERMITTING. You may start feeling headache shortness of breath due to altitude but this is normal for mountain climbers. In the afternoon, slope from Lava Tower to Barranco Campsite thus, allowing your body to relax according to the conditions of high altitude. You will enjoy the magnificent sunset and afterward have dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: BARRANCO CAMP TO KARANGA CAMP After your early morning breakfast, you will hike for a short time in order to get used to the condition attempting the great Barranco Wall. At the top of the wall, you will have a view of Hein Glacier and will be above the clouds the afterward descend into the valley in a winding track. You will have your dinner and spend the night at Karanga campsite.

DAY 5: KARANGA CAMP TO BARAFU HUT Following your early morning breakfast, start hiking passing through the Alpine desert and the way divides with the Mweka route that is used during the descent on the final day. From there you will reach Barafu Hut which is the last water stop area for the porters since water is not accessible at Barafu Camp. “BARAFU” means ice and it is in the Swahili Language, the Camp is on a rocky, exposed ridge so, get prepared as Tents are to be exposed to wind and rocks before it becomes dark. Dinner and rest for the summit night, the same night.

DAY 6: PEAK ATTEMPT FROM BARAFU TO UHURU PEAK THEN SLOPE TO MWEKA. The Guide will wake you for tea and the begin attempting the peak heading to the northwest and over a stone track. This is the most physically and mentally challenging part of the hike. You will reach the Stella point on the crater rim, enjoy the wonderful sunrise then continue with the hike on a snow covered path to UHURU PEAK. Well, this is a lifetime experience! You will spend a short time at the peak, taking photographs and drinking tea then slope down to Barafu about three hours. You will have your lunch and some rest then continue to Mweka Hut after through the rocks to the moorland reaching the rainforest as you expect rain and fog. Have your dinner and overnight stay there.

DAY 7: MWEKA CAMP TO MWEKA GATE After having your breakfast, there will be celebrations and it is here that you will present your tips to the guide, assistant guides, chef(s) and porters. From here, you will descend to Mweka Gate. The National Park requires all hikers to sign their names to receive certificates of completion. Those who reached Stella Point receive a green certificate, and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive a gold certificate. After receiving certificates, head to Mweka Village, have lunch then the Driver will take you back to Arusha for long belated showers and more celebrations.
