6 Days Primate Safari (Bwindi & Kibale NPs)

 

Day One: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Our safari driver will pick you from your hotel early in the morning after breakfast then you begin your journey to the western part of Uganda having your first stopover at the Equator crossing in Masaka and here you will go for photography, visit the crafts shop, do some experiments and eat some snacks around there then proceed to Mbarara which is 283km from Kampala. Have some lunch in Mbarara at the hotel of your choice and then after lunch, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On arrival at the park you will encounter the lushest highland rainforest in the world filled with different primates and a variety of birds, hills, valleys and papyrus swamps. You can decide to spend your evening enjoying a walk in the neighboring communities and villages around the park. Dinner and overnight at the hotel of your choice.


Day Two: Gorilla Trekking
Wake up very early in the morning for breakfast and after breakfast; prepare to begin trekking in the forest. Trekking begins at 8:00am with a briefing from the UWA staff and guides. You have to ensure that you have a rain jacket, jungle boots, drinking water, packed lunch and all the necessary gear to track the mountain gorillas as the guides lead you to see the shy primates depending on the gorilla group you are interested in and this is the most exciting wildlife experience ever.
Gorilla tracking may take between 2-6 hours and the efforts put is worth it and after a tiresome day retire at the hotel of your choice for dinner and overnight.


Day Three: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Wake up early in the morning and after breakfast, drive to kibale national park via Kabale and have lunch on your way thus arriving in the late afternoon. Relax at your hotel as you prepare for the following day then dinner and overnight at the hotel of your choice or budget.


Day Four: Chimpanzee Tracking
After an early morning breakfast, prepare to move into the forest in search of the primates. the activity starts at 8:00am and half of the day is dedicated in search for chimpanzees and other primates like phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the thick forest, you will also see a variety of birds, butterflies and other small insects. You will be provided with a detailed explanation on the primates and the forests flora and fauna thus having an enjoyable and informative walk in the forest. This walk is excellent for bird watching and viewing primates in a close range. After lunch you will be able to visit the Bigodi eco-tourism site and its here that you will encounter rare and beautiful flora and fauna. After an adventurous day take a rest at the hotel of your choice for dinner and overnight.


Day Five: Return to Kampala
After breakfast, enjoy your morning at leisure as you explore the beauty of the land then drive back to Kampala via Fort portal. You will have lunch on your way arriving in the late evening then dinner and overnight at the hotel of your budget in Kampala.
Day Six: Transfer to the Airport
Our safari driver will pick you from your hotel and transfer you to the airport for your international flight back home.
